Road Race Overview

Ford Timing has been timing road races since 2009. We started with pull-tag timing services and added dual frequency timing chips shortly thereafter. Today we offer both reusable and disposable chip timing services across 4 different RFID vendors giving us unparalleled versatility and potential.

In 2018 we began integrating Race|Result timing hardware/software as Wayzata Results, Inc. - West. Our implementation of this partnership enables us to now handle your bib design and add even more scope to our services.

...Road Race Services in More Detail
Data Entry:
Ford Timing handles the data entry of both pre-registered and race day registered participants. We’ve successfully processed hundreds of race day applications on the morning of the event thanks in part to our scoring software which has a database of more than 250,000 participants all throughout Northern California.

Packet Fulfillment:
As part of fulfilling packets, we alphabetize all registered participants by last name (If dynamic bib assignment is NOT being utilized)

Race Day Set-Up:
Ford Timing’s staff is always on time and always ready to go by race time. Our crew typically arrives 30 minutes prior to the opening of race day/pre-registration ensuring plenty of time for the setting up of race timing equipment and peripherals

Back-Up Timing:
In addition to the chip timing services, we also provide a rock solid backup timing method consisting of a printing stopwatch and video feed. This helps to ensure we can address any issues in the event of a missed read at the finish line.

We offer a wide variety of reports in addition to the standard overall/age group reports. We can optionally tally/detail participants that have elected to be a part of a special scoring group, track race demographics, and provide alphabetized listings for packet pick-ups.

Finish Line Equipment:
Ford Timing supplies the necessary finish line chute and pennants for the start and finish lines. These help to ensure participants are corralled and pass over the timing mats (thus ensuring their time is read by the chip timing system).
Ford Timing Runs on ChronoTrack, the world's largest and most trusted vendor of RFID Timing technology.  ChronoTrack has been used at 22/25 of the largest races in the United States and is used by over 230 timers all around the world for their companies' events.

-Shoe Tag (D-Tag)
-Bib Tag (B-Tag)
-Bike Tag (Bike Events)
-Triathlon Tag (re-usable tag for mud runs/triathlons)

And For Smaller Events.....

For smaller events (as well as Track & Field where the client wishes to integrate split times) we offer IPICO Scorts re-usable chip timing which is both cost effective and green!

Our re-usable chip solution is best suited for events under 300 participants. We offer both shoe chips as well as chips that are strapped around the participants' ankle.

Chips are collected at the end of the race thereby saving the client on the cost of a disposable timing chip solution.
